Mattress Sledding

So, what is mattress sledding?? Well...

Yup, a mattress attached to chains being pulled by a tractor.

It was awesome. In fact, on our way home Tyler exclaimed "Man, today was AWESOME!" I love that he has this memory. Mattress sledding... who would have thunk?

Ry Ry enjoyed himself, but didn't last too long on the mattress.

You may be wondering how two boys from the suburbs ended up on such an adventure. Well, this is what happens when friends from the suburbs move to the country. Isn't it great?? I love adventures like this.

Fun, fun and more fun!

What could make it better? Attaching sleds to the mattress, of course!

Woo Hoo!

Yes, we had a wonderful day.

We got home at 6:30pm and Ryan went straight to bed... Ty was in bed by 7:30... love it!

ToothLESS

I picked Tyler up from camp today (it is winter break from school) and was surprised when his leader walked me back to the classroom to "get his tooth." What?? Ty didn't have a tooth loose enough to come out. Well, it seems that he got a foot in the mouth today and out popped his other front tooth.

I can't believe it!! I'm not ready for this!! He even sounds different now. Sob! Can I bury my head in the sand and pretend that these boys aren't growing up in front of my eyes?

No More Diapers!!

I am in complete disbelief. One week and one day ago I would have told you that I believed Ryan would be the first kid to go to college in diapers. But, I was wrong.

Last Sunday he completely removed all of his clothes including his diaper. It struck me that if he could do that, he must be able to go on the potty despite the fact that he had sat there countless times without success. The battle of wills had begun. Ryan and I spent the next two hours in the bathroom. Finally he went (thank goodness because I really didn't want to sleep in the bathroom)! And there was no turning back.

It was a long week of a lot of laundry, but I'm happy to say that Ryan has not had an accident since Friday afternoon! He's even waking up dry, telling us when he has to go and has successfully used the potty at Target! I'd say this boy was more than ready and had been playing us for a while now.

The best part is how proud he is of himself. Yay!

(Ok, I'll admit it... I am a little sad that my baby is out of diapers.)

Milestone

I've been neglecting the blog lately, but I had to pop on tonight to document the loss of Tyler's first top tooth loss. Sob! I've been dreading this day for a long time anticipating the change in his face. Here we go...

I had the honor of pulling the tooth out myself after much panic on Ty's part. But he hadn't eaten since breakfast due to his hanging tooth so something had to happen. Good thing he's got a mean mom. Yank! In the end the anticipation was MUCH worse than the actual event.

Tyler is losing teeth and Ryan is potty training (Grr!). My boys are growing up. Further evidence of this happened this past Sunday when I found myself alone in the house as my 3 guys were out working in the garage on Ty's pinewood derby. All of them. I can't believe it is happening already. At the same time, I WAS ALONE IN THE HOUSE!!! Woo Hoo!!
